From the architect: Situated on Coogee’s spectacular northern headland overlooking Wedding Cake Island, Ballamac combines a rich history with contemporary coastal Architecture. Ballamac House, first built in 1860 for Sir Charles Moore, is being restored to its original form, repairing stonework, installing a new slate roof and reinstating the original wrap-around verandah. The original home, built to face south west toward Coogee Bay, is complemented by a respectful low rise apartment building to its east. Taking cues from its coastal surroundings the new form curves and scallops, orientating towards views and light to maximise privacy and amenity, adjacent to the popular Coogee to Bondi Coastal walk.
